Pirkenhammer (Austria) TITANIC plate hand-painted with pink cabbage roses and green leaves on light green and pink background with gold trim and pink, black and yellow embellishment.
Based on the back stamp this is circa 1900.
The plate is 7 1/4 inches diameter.
Some wear to gilt, otherwise excellent condition.
There is some controversy or confusion about the TITANIC mark on the Pirkenhammer plate with some claiming (including Pirkenhammer) that the goods were made for the ill-fated White Star Line ship while others claim there is no evidence to support the theory.
Nevertheless, this is an excellently preserved piece, well over 100-years old with a lovely design.
